Mr. Arunachal Nishu Konia was honored as Mr. India title in junior section beating around 311 entrants at 6th National Bodybuilding championship held at Bhakti Ramdasu Kalashetram Khammam, Telangana from 5th to 7th February 2016. Handsome Konia was awarded with the cash prize of Rs 75,000, a trophy and a certificate at a 2nd event of state conducted at Siddhartha Hall.
Mamon Goney was awarded first runner up and Raj Thakuri 2nd runner up to get Rs 55,000 and 45,000 with a trophy and certificate. They were judged by six national and international level judges.
Mr. Arunachal-2016 has become first Arunachalee to clinch the title of Mr. India in junior section by his hard work and determination. He said he has been working hard for East India Body Building competition and would continue to put his efforts to rise higher in this field. JP Rajkhowa, the Governor said that the achievement is not only matter of pride but it is a source of inspiration to the younger generation and Konia will bring laurel to the nation.
The event was tough as it comprised the winners of eight weight categories (60-65kg, 65-70kg, 70-75kg, 75-80kg, 80-85kg, 85-90kg, 90-95kg and 95-100kg) who finally competed to emerge the title of Mr. India in junior section said Abraham K Techi.
Konia also won gold medal in 6th Eastern India Body Building Championship-2015 held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal in January for unique body display in 70 kg category.
Arunachal Body Building Association president Abraham K Techi congratulated Konia for his efforts and wished him for his great future and added that this success defines the huge pool of hidden talent in the country. He addressed that event this aimed at creating a platform to encourage the youngsters to take bodybuilding as a career.
Weight lifter Sambo Lapung won the gold medal in South Asian Games in Guwahati and Konia procured Mr. India title in National Body Building Championship on same day was like a cherry on a cake.
Mr. Dani Sahu, Secretary Sports and Youth affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh greeted Mr. India for making Arunachal proud with his physique at National level arena.
