2015 has been a very good year for Indian Bodybuilding. Many of our athletes made India proud by winning many internationals events. There were many regional and national level competitions organized successfully, which gave all the bodybuilders a chance to showcase their hard work and talent. The way in which the events are organized has improved over the years, and people’s awareness towards the sport of bodybuilding in India has also increased in this year.
There is still lots of work that needs to be done in this field and address few concerns as well. The major issue faced by the Indian bodybuilding industry is that there are several organizations/associations at national and state level. These associations are not aligned towards a common goal and in some cases they are even fighting among each others. Bodybuilders competing under one organization or association are not allowed to compete in other competitions organized by other associations. This is a big problem as it breaks the whole bodybuilding community. We hope that such things improve going forward.Listing the top 10 Indian bodybuilders for the year is not an easy job. This is because there are so many events organized by different associations as we mentioned earlier. And since bodybuilders gets associated with this individual associations they cannot compete against each other. This is the reason we never get to see all the top bodybuilders competing on a single stage. Surprisingly we even have two Mr India 2015 competitions in a year organized by two different bodybuilding association. One Mr India title was won by Sangram Chougule and another one was won by Prashant sulunkhe.
If you ask who is the best bodybuilder in the world, then we all know the answer. Its Phil Heath and that’s because he won the Mr Olympia 2015 competition in which the top bodybuilders of the world compete. But if you ask the same questions about Indian Bodybuilder, then there is no single answer, because the top bodybuilders never competed against each other.
We never get to see Sangram Chougule, Wasim Khan, Prashant Sulankhe, Pawan Shetty, Sunit Jadhav on a single stage, hence we can never compare then side by side to know who leads the pack.
In this article we list the top 10 bodybuilders in India for 2016. The ranking is based on
- the form and conditioning maintained throughout the year

Vipin consistenly brings in the best muscularity and definitions in all the competitions. We believe he has lots of potential and his peak performance is yet to come. This is one of the bodybuilders to watch out for in the future.
Bobby Singh
Bobby Singh of Indian Navy won silver medal at the 7th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2015 in 85 Kg category. This is one bodybuilder who has be consistently performing very well for several years. We have seen several bodybuilders rise to fame and then quickly disappear from the industry all together. However that is not the case with Bobby Singh, who has been competing regularly. This year was his best performance of his career.
Ram Niwas
Indian Railways bodybuilders Ram Niwas makes it to number 4 in our list. This is due to his performance in two most competitive competitions held in december – Talwalkar Classique and Satish Sagar Classique. Ram won the 2nd place in Satish Sagar Classic and later won the overall title in Talwalkar classique.
Yatinder Singh
Yatinder singh was making a comeback from injury this year. He start the year by winning Mr Uttar Pradesh overall title. He improved really well in the year and by the year end, he was at his peak. He won second place at the Talwalkar Classique behind only Ram Niwas. He moved ahead among top bodybuilders in this competition like Vipin Peter, Bobby Singh, Jagdish Lad, Murali Kumar etc. Before this event, he had defeated Ram Niwas at the Satish Sagar Classique. He is on number 3 on the list for his amazing performance.
Sangram Chougule
Sangram Chougule has been in phenomenal form in 2015. He defeat tough contender like Murali Kumar and Vipin Peter to win Mr India 2015 title. Sangram later met with an accident and injured his shoulder hence he did not compete in any other competition for the year. Still considering his performance at Mr India 2015 event, he is No 2 on our list of top 10 best Indian Bodybuilders for 2016. We are sure he will make a comeback and become a strong contender for no 1 spot again.
Prashant Sulunkhe
Prashant Sulunkhe defeated 8 time champion Suhas Khamkar to win Mr India 2015 held at Satara in Maharashtra. At the start of 2016 he also won the highly competitive Mumbai Shree 2016 and Jerrai Classsic 2016. This makes prashant the current undisputed champion of Indian Bodybuilding.
Sagar Katurde
It was an excellent year for Sagar Katurde, He peaked at the end of the year and won several competition in Mumbai. He is another bodybuilder who is improving rapidly and should be watched out for in the year 2016.
Deepak Tripathi
Deepak Tripathi won the prestegious Mumbai Shree 2015. This was a very good win for him, but for some reason he could not keep up the tempo and did not win any other event in the year. We think that he has one of the best bodies in Indian Bodybuilding. No one can beat him in the abdomens pose. He has the perfect old school stomach vacum, which all the bodybuilder’s now a days lack. If you go by pure aesthetics then Deepak is the champion. We really home that he makes a strong comeback in 2016.
All are Indian prouds.
